Many library resources are available remotely from your home computer. You can directly access the catalog or website from any electronic device. Some resources, however, are available only to Athenaeum students and require identification for access.
Remote Authentication
In using Maly resources from home or other off-site computers, you may be asked to prove that you hold an Athenaeum library card, that is, to authenticate your access privileges.
Follow these steps to authenticate:
- Upon linking to a database where authentication is required an authentication screen will appear requesting selection of your affiliated institution. From the drop-down box select Athenaeum of Ohio and click on the Submit button.
- On the next screen enter your last name in the first box and the barcode from your library card in the second box and click on the Submit button.
- Logins last for a period of two hours or until you log off your computer. It is possible to log in additional times and once logged in it is not necessary to log in again during your session when you change databases.
Preferred Browsers
The preferred browser for accessing the databases are Internet Explorer version 5 and above. The AOL browser has known problems which will prevent it from working with some of the library resources.
Download the latest version of Internet Explorer:
