Research Databases

 

Maly faculty and students have access to a wide variety of databases, which can be accessed in the library or remotely from other locations. Library staff members are happy to assist you in selecting and using databases for your research. Please visit or call the library for assistance.

 

Selected Maly Library Databases   (also accessible to students off-campus*)

           Catholic Periodical and Literature Index (CPLI)

            A database of citations for articles published primarily in Catholic journals and magazines.

   

           ATLA (American Theological Libraries Assn.)

           An index of Christian publications, including articles, book reviews, essays and book chapters.

 

           Religious and Theological Abstracts

           Descriptive abstracts for many theological sources not included in other databases. 

 

           Religion and Philosophy Collection

           A collection of articles, mostly full-text, from philosophy and a broad range of religions.

 

           Academic Search Premier    

           Full-text scholarly articles from a wide range of academic subjects.

 

           PsycArticles

           Full-text articles from publication of the American Psychological Association.

 

           Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection

           Index, abstracts, and full text covering topics such as emotional and behavioral

           characteristics, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and

           observational and experimental methods.

 

           CINAHL

           Index, abstracts, and full text of the literature of nursing and allied health.

WorldCat is an online catalog of thousands of libraries worldwide. It is very useful for finding which libraries might hold a book you are looking for.

   Google's search engine limited to scholarly publications.

 

Note: The results you find from these two resources will probably not be in Maly Library but we can request them from other libraries at no cost to Athenaeum students. Please call the library during regular daytime hours to let us know what you need.

 


More OhioLINK Research Databases

Ohio Library and Information Network

Many additional online research databases are available through OhioLINK.  These resources can be used by all library patrons in the Maly Library.  Patrons can use these resources from home or other computers only if they have F/S on the back of their library card.  Patrons with a G on the back of your  library card will not be able to log into these resources from any computers other than those in the Maly Library.

* Note: Off-campus users may be asked to sign in to online databases with a login and password to authenticate their access. If so, follow the instructions for authenticating access  on the Off-Campus Users page.

OhioLINK Reference Tools

Tools include many dictionaries and encyclopedias, including a subject collection of reference works on Religion .

OhioLINK Image Collections and Digital Media

A collection of image databases and the Digital Media Center, which offers videos that can be viewed online or downloaded for temporary educational use.
