Archdiocese of Cincinnati Ordains Nine Formed at MTSM to Priesthood

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati welcomed new new priests, all of whom were formed and educated at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) to the ministry of the priesthood ordination on Saturday, May 16, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati.

The nine men ordained to the priesthood on Saturday marks only the third time in the last 51 years the Archdiocese of Cincinnati has ordained nine to the priesthood in one year. Archbishop Robert G. Casey was the celebrant of the Mass and was joined in concelebration by Bishop Earl Fernandes of Columbus, a 2002 MTSM alum. Bishop Fernandes vested Rev. Benjamin Klare and later joined Father Klare that day as a concelebrant during Klare’s first Mass at St. Ignatius of Loyola in Cincinnati, where Bishop Fernandes was Pastor prior to his episcopal appointment.

The nine men ordained to the priesthood on Saturday will begin their first pastoral assignments within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on July 1. A full listing is below.

Saturday will not be the only historic priesthood ordination involving men formed and educated at MTSM this year. On Saturday, May 30, the Diocese of Charlotte will ordain a record 10 men to the priesthood, eight of whom completed their formation at MTSM. They are Rev. Mr. Robert Bauman, Rev. Mr. Michael Camilleri, Rev. Mr. John Cuppett, Rev. Mr. Maximilian Frei, Rev. Mr. Bryan Ilagor, Rev. Mr. Michael Lugo, Rev. Mr. Peter Townsend and Rev. Mr. James Tweed.
