Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology (MTSM) is the center for ecclesial formation sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology is seeking a full-time Director of Music who will report to the Rector/President regarding institutional matters and the Academic Dean regarding instructional matters. The Director will likewise collaborate with the Director of Liturgy in facilitating the liturgical life of the seminary community.

Role
The Director of Music, who will also be a faculty member of Mount St Mary’s Seminary, will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee all the sacred and chant-based music for the seminary liturgies, especially Sunday and Daily Masses, and the communal chanting of the Liturgy of the Hours on weekdays, creating liturgy programs and musical handouts for these celebrations as needed.
  • Coordinate and oversee music for special liturgical celebrations and events during the year.
  • Serve as the primary chapel organist for daily liturgies and supervise additional student organists/cantors.
  • Assist with the liturgical formation of the seminarians by training seminarian cantors, directing the seminary Latin Schola in the patrimony of the Church’s sacred treasury, leading periodic all-house music rehearsals, attending periodic liturgy meetings, and teaching required music curriculum rooted in Church documents for the seminarians and permanent deacon candidates.
  • Oversee maintenance of the Pasi organ, Opus 29 (installed in 2023, organ speicifcations can be viewed here), as well as several pianos on campus, and a handbell set. Also, maintain the music/choral library.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Sacred Music Institute, including the activities of the Athenaeum Chorale (a semi-professional group of singers that sing at various events throughout the year), hosting visiting organists for recitals, as well as public lectures, conferences, and workshops for priests and sacred musicians, and collaborating with the institution’s Advancement Office for fundraising and advertising.

Skills and Experience
Organist, choral conductor, vocal instructor, teacher of sacred music, liturgical knowledge, familiarity with computer writing (Finale/Dorico), and program booklet design software (Adobe InDesign). Must have a Master’s in Music, though a Doctorate is preferred.

Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) seeks an energetic and experienced Director of the Annual Fund. The Director manages a portfolio of high-end annual fund donors. Additionally, the Director executes all annual giving activities including the design and implementation of a multi-channel appeal strategy, determines targeted segmentation and analyzes results to enhance revenue for unrestricted giving while also expanding the donor base.

Specifically, the Director of the Annual Fund will:

  • Create, implement and evaluate a comprehensive, multi-year plan to increase both dollars and donors in support of the MTSM Annual Fund to meet annual revenue goals and strengthen giving
  • Determine and execute segmentation strategies to maximize response rates and revenue
  • Ensure the Bishop Fenwick Society members ($1,000 and above) are solicited personally by staff and volunteers, where appropriate
  • Monitor and evaluate results
  • Work in collaboration with the Vice President for Development & Relations, the President/Rector and other members of the MTSM faculty and staff

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of measurable, relevant experience in annual giving or a similar field
  • Proven success in face-to-face solicitation
  • Prior management of giving programs
  • Excellent writing and data analysis skills
  • Commitment to the mission and message of the Catholic Church
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
