The following policy applies to the Athenaeum’s website (https://athenaeum.edu) and provides information about the information collected and how it is used. Use of the website indicates acceptance of this policy.

Information collected
WEBSITE ANALYTICS
The Athenaeum is provided with data about users’ interaction with the website through Google Analytics. This data includes session statistics, approximate geolocation, search terms, and browser and device information. For information, please visit Google Analytics Data Collection and Privacy Policy. The data does not contain any personally identifiable information.
COOKIES
Cookies are small data files that are placed on a user’s device when accessing a website. Cookies anonymously track user interaction with the website and do not contain any personally identifiable information. Users can disable cookies on their browser and still access the website.
INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE USER
The Athenaeum collects personal information from users only when it is provided by user. Webpages appearing on the website that collect user information are all managed through third-party service providers. Information submitted through these webpages is securely transmitted and stored according to the providers’ security and privacy policies.
• Fillable forms appearing on the “Contact Us” and “Schedule a Visit” webpages are provided through Gravity Forms and secured according to Gravity Form’s Security and Privacy policies. Users are asked to provide their name, address, email, and phone number. This information is generated as an email to our administrative office via Microsoft Outlook.
• Links on the “School of Theology” webpages, including applications and inquiries, are processed through Populi and secured according to Populi’s Security and Privacy policies. Users are asked to provide their name, address, email, and phone number, as well as their desired program and anticipated entrance term if applying. This information is generated and stored in the Populi system.
• Fillable forms appearing on the “Giving” webpage are processed through Blackbaud and secured according to Blackbaud’s Security and Privacy policies. Users are asked to provide their name, billing address, email, phone number, and donation amount. Payment is secured through Blackbaud Merchant Services. This information is generated and stored in the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge system.
Third party websites
In addition to the service providers listed above, the Athenaeum provides links to other websites and service platforms on its website. The Athenaeum’s website privacy policy no longer applies once a user leaves our site. Users are encouraged to review the terms and privacy policies of third-party sites.
Use of information
The website analytics collected from the website are used to evaluate usage trends and to improve how users interact with the website. The analytics report aggregate data and do not provide information on individual use or interaction with the website.
Personal identifiable information provided by the user is used to respond to inquiries and to offer institutional services. For general queries and requests, user contact information is shared with relevant staff members to respond to the query or to fulfill the request. Admissions inquiries and applications store user-provided information in the Populi system, and this information is reported directly to the Admissions Office for processing through their secure Populi account. Donations store user-provided information in the Blackbaud system, and this information is reported directly to the Advancement Office for processing through their secure Blackbaud account.
Users submitting inquiries, applications, or donations may receive periodic emails from the institution to provide news and follow-up. Recipients of these email messages may notify the Athenaeum of their wish to not receive future emails or to unsubscribe from a mailing list at any time.
Sharing of information
User information is only shared with the third-party service providers listed above to provide specified services on our behalf. User-provided personal information is securely processed and stored through third-party servers, in compliance with their security and privacy policies. The Athenaeum does not share, sell, trade, or transfer personal user information with any other third party at any time. The Athenaeum may disclose personal information to authorities in cases concerning the safety of its campus, students, and staff or in cases compelled by law. Security
The Athenaeum secures its communications and network infrastructure through the use of layers of security, including intrusion detection and prevention, anti-malware/antivirus, active web blocking based on site reputation and other factors, and a system of onsite/offsite and offline backups. Only staff with pertinent roles and authorization may access user information. All access is password-protected and subject to confidentiality.
Information submitted for admissions requests is processed and stored in Populi and is safeguarded by their Security measures. Donations submitted through the Athenaeum website are processed by Blackbaud Merchant Services and are stored in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge. This information is safeguarded by their Security measures.
Policy changes
This policy is updated as necessary and is reviewed regularly as part of our accreditation and federal compliance review cycle. All changes to the policy will be posted on this page.
