12 MTSM Seminarians Ordained to Transitional Diaconate

Transitional Diaconate ordinands for the Diocese of Charlotte with Bishop Michael T. Martin, OFM Conv.

Over the past six weeks, 12 men across four dioceses in formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) have been ordained to the transitional diaconate, one of the final steps of their formation prior to ordination to the priesthood.

Over the next year, these men will continue their preparation for the priesthood while also now being able to serve the functions of the diaconate, including proclaiming the Gospel at Mass, preach homilies, prepare the Altar for the Eucharist, administer baptisms, officiate marriages, etc.
