Recurring Gifts

Donating to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology through a recurring gift allows you to support our work on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. By giving regularly, you provide steady, ongoing support for the formation of priests, deacons and lay leaders throughout the year.

Recurring gifts may be made at a variety of levels and can also qualify donors for recognition through the Bishop Fenwick Society, including gifts such as $83.34 per month toward membership at the $1,000 annual level.

Memorial and Tribute Giving

A gift, either in honor of a living person or in memory of someone who has passed away, is a fitting tribute to that special friend or loved one.  Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology sends notification of the tribute gift to the individual(s) that you designate.  Please include the name and address of the individual(s) you would like us to notify along with your gift.  Gift credit is given to the donors.

Stocks and Securities

Appreciated securities are an excellent asset to use in making a charitable gift.  You may maximize tax savings by receiving an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the appreciated securities and you may avoid capital gains tax.

Electronic Transfer

Electronic transfer is the most efficient way to transfer securities to the Seminary.  Notify the broker that you wish to make a gift of securities to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM)/The Athenaeum of Ohio.  Your broker will need written authorization from you before they can make the transfer.  Be sure to tell them:
– the name of the stock you want to transfer,
– the number of shares and
– how you would like your gift to be designated.

We also ask that you notify MTSM Advancement Services by email at advancement@athenaeum.edu or by calling 513.233.6159. Notifying us provides the ability to match your name (donor) with the correct stock gift. Charitable Gift Funds and IRA Distributions

Donor Advised Funds (DAF)

A Donor Advised Fund (or DAF) might be a great solution for you. You can use a DAF to distribute gifts to numerous charities. With a DAF, you can make gifts to charity during your lifetime, and when you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving. For more information click here.

Charitable IRA Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70 1/2 years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology and receive tax benefits in return.  You can give up to $100,000 annually from your IRA directly to a qualified organization without having to pay income taxes on the money.

The Charitable IRA Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a smart, unique way to support our mission: You pay no income taxes on the gift.  The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.  If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution for the year, an IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement. Matching Gifts

Many corporations have generous matching gift programs which allow individuals to double their donations.
