February 10, 2027: Gardner Lecture
Location: Bartlett Center - Mount St. Mary's Seminary & School of Theology

Join Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) for the Spring 2027 Gardner Lecture on Wednesday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bartlett Center at MTSM.
The lecture will be given by Logan Paul Gage, Ph.D., professor of philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville. The title of the lecture is “Newman’s Humane Epistemology.”
In his lecture, Dr. Gage will explore the main contours of the epistemology of St. John Henry Newman. Well ahead of his time, Newman anticipated the modern emphasis on the need for default trust in relation to skepticism, fallibilism, subconscious processing, and immediate justification. Dr. Gage will discuss this and Newman’s thoughts on the proper role for emotion and judgment in the search for truth and faith.
The Spring 2027 Gardner Lecture is open to the public and admission is free.
