February 12: 2025 Findley Lecture

Join Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) for the 2025 Findley Lecture on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. inside the Bartlett Center at MTSM.
The lecture will be given by The Most Rev. Shelton J. Fabre, Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Louisville. He previously served as the Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux in Louisiana for nine years before being installed as the Archbishop of Louisville in March 2022.
Archbishop Fabre’s lecture is titled ‘The Church’s Response to Racism’.
Racism is a sin and an evil which continues to manifest in our communities and Church today. As disciples of Jesus Christ, it is imperative that we confront the root causes of racism and its resulting injustices. In his lecture, Archbishop Fabre will present several ways in which the Church is responding to racism and will convey ways to overcome the sin and evil of racism.
The 2025 Findley Lecture is open to the public and admission is free.
About The Most Rev. Shelton J. Fabre
Archbishop Fabre was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Baton Rouge in August 1989, completing his seminary studies at the American College of the Immaculate Conception in Leuven, Belgium. In February 2007, he was installed as Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of New Orleans before being appointed as Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux (Louisiana) by Pope Francis in October 2013. In March 2022, he was installed as the fifth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Louisville. In addition to his seminary formation, Archbishop Fabre holds a Bachelor of Religious Studies and Master of Religious Studies from Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven, Belgium and a Bachelor of History from Saint Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana.
