June 10: Sacristy Day – Setting Up for Mass
Sacristy Day is intended to provide training and information on both the spirituality and duties of the sacristan as well as provide an opportunity to meet other sacristans. The duties of a sacristan are varied. This is the second Sacristan Day and will focus on setting up for Mass. You do not need to have attended the first Sacristy Day for this session to be useful.
Check in and material pick up will be from 8:30 – 9 am Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology and will end by 3:30 pm. The day will include a talk about Mass & the Sacristan, a review of the sanctuary and its appointments, the basic set up for Mass including vessels, linens and the liturgical books. Additionally, there will be a tour of the sacristies and chapels. The day long conference includes lunch in the refectory, drinks in the morning and a mid afternoon snack. Mass will be celebrated prior to lunch for the conference.
