MTSM Announces 2024-25 Music & Liturgy Series
09.11.24Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) is excited to announce its Sacred Music Institute (SMI) schedule for 2024-25. This academic year’s calendar features six events, including multiple guest organists and the return of an old favorite event. All Music & Liturgy series events at MTSM are free and open to the public.
The Music & Liturgy Series begins on Sunday, October 6 at 7 p.m. with Solemn Vespers & Chorale Concert of Sacred Music in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great, featuring the Athenaeum Chorale and the Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola. The evening will feature works by Franck, Dalby, Mawby & Grieg.
There will be a special organ recital on Sunday, November 10 at 7 p.m. featuring Amanda Mole in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. Mole has quickly earned a reputation as one of the leading concert organists of her generation, earning multiple prizes for her organ performances around the world. She is pursuing a Doctor in Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, New York), where she attained her Bachelor’s in Music Degree. She also earned a Master’s of Music Degree in Organ Performance and Sacred Music from Yale.
The events for 2024 will wrap up with the traditional First Vespers for the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great, which will feature performances by the Athenaeum Chorale and Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola.
The first of three Music & Liturgy events in 2025 will come on Sunday, February 16 at 7 p.m. in the form of a Solemn Vespers & Organ Recital at the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. The guest organist for the evening will be Dr. Nicole Simental, the Music Minister for Buckeye Catholic at The Ohio State University.
The next SMI event will take place on Sunday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great with the Solemn Passiontide Vespers, with a concert of sacred music. The evening will feature the Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola.
Returning in 2025 after a one-year hiatus is the Eastertide Choral Mass on Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. The evening’s Mass will feature the Athenaeum Chorale and the Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola.
