MTSM Community Takes Part in 2025 Flying Pig Marathon
05.07.25On Sunday, May 4, 25 members of the Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology community took part in the 2025 Flying Pig Marathon races in downtown Cincinnati. Along with many who were running for the second year in a row, there were many first-timers in the half marathon ranks, along with teams of seminarians running together as part of the four-person relay runs.
The four-person relays saw the team of Rev. Anthony Stoeppel (Dean of Men, Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology), Connor White (Charlotte), Luke Danis (Cincinnati) and Emerson Wells (Louisville) finished in second place with a relay time of 2:45:13. Running the final 7.01 mile leg for the relay, Wells completed the run in 38:01 (just above 5:25 per mile), the fastest final leg of any participant.
His anchor run capped a busy two weeks of running for Wells, a Pre-Theology I seminarian. On Easter Monday, Wells was in Boston to compete in the 2025 Boston Marathon, which he completed in 2:35:20 to finish in 449th overall out of more than 32,000 runners. Wells qualified for the Boston Marathon after finishing sixth at the 2024 Flying Pig Marathon last May when he ran a 2:41:43. Wells talked to the Archdiocese of Louisville’s newspaper, The Record, about running in the Boston Marathon and while in formation, here.
Back in Cincinnati, a pair of men in the Propaedeutic Stage at MTSM were among the top-70 finishers on Sunday. Chatham Anderson from the Diocese of Columbus finished 59th overall in 2:51:43, while David Adamitis from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati was 66th in 2:52:33.
MTSM wants to thank Fr. Stoeppel and Dr. Mary Catherine Levri (Director of Music, Associate Professor of Music & Pastoral Studies) for working out the logistics for getting a “team tent” for the day and to seminarians who took time out of their Sunday morning to watch the tent while the race was going on.
MTSM also thanks Archdiocese of Cincinnati priest and alumnus Fr. Matthew Montag for joining the group on Sunday and taking part in the half marathon.
