MTSM Welcomes Alumni & Friends to Celebrate 50 Years of Lay Formation
04.29.26
On Thursday, April 23, Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM), welcomed lay alumni and friends of the lay evangelization community in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for a celebration of 50 years of Lay Formation in the Archdiocese. More than 100 attendees came to the Bartlett Center to hear about the past, present and future of Lay Evangelization in the Archdiocese through the School of Theology.
Aimee May, MTSM’s Coordinator for Lay Ecclesial Formation, offered a tribute to Rev. Robert Hater, a priest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati who was the founder and first leader of the Lay Formation program run through the Seminary, the Lay Ministry Program, which started in 1976. Rev. Hater was unable to be in attendance for health reasons.
Following, Dr. Samuel Johnson, the Dean of the School of Theology (which is now the umbrella for which Lay Formation is under through Mount St. Mary’s Seminary now) and the Very Rev. Anthony R. Brausch, President and Rector of MTSM offered updates on the future and present of the Lay Formation programs through the Seminary. A reception followed out on the Marian Courtyard.
