Transitional Diaconate Ordinations Begin This Weekend

Ordination season begins this weekend for Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) seminarians, with three men being formed for the priesthood slated to be ordained to the transitional diaconate on Saturday (April 27).

For the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Kevin LeMelle and Adam Lewis will be ordained to the transitional diaconate at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains on Saturday at 11 a.m. For the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Liam Hosty will be ordained to the transitional diaconate at Saint Barnabas Catholic Church, his home parish, in Indianapolis on Saturday at 10 a.m.

These three ordinations will be the first over the next two months as, God willing, a combined 28 men in formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary will receive ordination either to the transitional diaconate or the priesthood.

The three diaconate ordinations this weekend are the first of 12 slated for this academic year, with three men from the Diocese of Toledo scheduled for May 18 (Travis Kahle, Eric Kaufman and Kevin McGraw) and six from the Diocese of Charlotte slated for June 1 (Christopher Angermeyer, Anthony del Cid Lucero, Nicholas Kramer, Kolbe Murrey, Andrew Templeton, Joseph Yellico).

The ordinations to the priesthood will begin on May 18 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains, with seven men from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati scheduled to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders (Rev. Mr. Brice Berger, Rev. Mr. Adam Berning, Rev. Mr. John Grusenmeyer, Rev. Mr. Benjamin Mersch, Rev. Mr. Matthew Montag, Rev. Mr. Anthony Sanitato, Rev. Mr. Jeremy Stubbs).

Priesthood ordinations will continue on June 1 in the Archdiocese of Louisville, with Rev. Mr. Van Tran. On June 15 in the Diocese of Charlotte, seven men will be ordained to the priesthood (Rev. Mr. Matthew Dimock, Jr., Rev. Mr. Christian Goduti, Rev. Mr. Matthew Harrison, Rev. Mr. Kevin Martinez, Rev. Mr. Jose Palma Torres, Rev. Mr. Elliott Suttle, Rev. Mr. Kevin Tran). The MTSM ordination calendar will conclude on June 22 with Rev. Mr. Christopher Turner for the Diocese of Toledo.
